Canon announces launch of ADOS 6.1
- ADOS 6.1 enables businesses to manage their information more efficiently in order to meet the challenges imposed by regulatory compliance
- A new connector allows for seamless integration with Microsoft Office SharePoint 2007

AMSTELVEEN, May 7, 2007 - Canon Europe, world leader in digital imaging technology, today launched the latest version of its document management software, ADOS 6.1. The fully scalable solution enables organisations, regardless of size or location, to capture, archive, search and retrieve information quickly and securely. ADOS 6.1 has a range of powerful new features that further supports organisations in streamlining paper-intensive business processes and delivering more value to their customers.

ADOS 6.1 is a secure, easy-to-use archive and retrieval solution. A new connector allows for seamless integration with Microsoft Office SharePoint 2007. Through the SharePoint interface, users have direct access to documents saved within the ADOS system. The solution can be configured in such a way that certain documents, including their associated index information, are sent to ADOS and are automatically deleted from SharePoint. This reduces the size and complexity of the SharePoint system, however users can still access archived information directly via the ADOS WebPart.

The ADOS Solution Designer replaces the ADOS Administrator as the main application for designing an ADOS system. Through the drag-and-drop functionality of the new graphical user interface, automated workflows can be easily configured without any need for additional programming. The enhanced workflow module enables organisations to transform traditionally time consuming, paper-intensive business processes into streamlined digital workflows, both enhancing the company's productivity and reducing cost. It is also within the ADOS Solution Designer that document storage policies and individual user permissions can be set, strengthening the security surrounding your business critical information.

The ADOS Capture Client now supports two new file formats for storing scanned documents: searchable PDF and searchable PDF/A. If one of these formats is selected when saving a scanned document, the ADOS Capture Client will perform Optical Character Recognition (OCR) on all pages and index them accordingly. This additional functionality allows users to search for specific text using the ADOS Viewer, thus increasing the speed of information retrieval.

Guy Westlake, Document Management Marketing Professional, Canon Europe says:"The simplicity of the ADOS solution and the lasting benefits that it provides mean that end users actually enjoy using it, as they are immediately able to experience the improvements to the way they work. By ensuring total security and control of your business critical information throughout its lifecycle, ADOS 6.1 meets the needs of our customers by delivering a flexible, scalable, one-stop document management solution that streamlines business processes and facilitates regulatory compliance."

At the heart of ADOS 6.1 is the increased flexibility of the solution in order to offer the maximum value to the customer; for example the ability to mix both named and concurrent licences. A specified named licence tends to be of best value for frequent users, whereas users using the system on an ad hoc basis can share concurrent licences.
